Join our Prayer Vigil on the eve of Lent

As we come to the end of Epiphany and the eve of Lent, we thought this would be the perfect time to hold a prayer vigil. Many have heavy hearts with all the discord in our country and throughout the world. I know we are also praying fervently for our new priest, that the Lord is preparing just the right person to answer Zion’s call and lead us through the current turmoil.

With all that in mind, we are planning a 24-hour prayer vigil to start at 6:00 am on Tuesday, February 17th [this is Shrove Tuesday so you can schedule your time slot around your pancake dinner] and concluding at 6:00 am Wednesday, Ash Wednesday.

Aside from the Easter Vigil, I don’t think we have done this in a while. There is a sign-up sheet link below so that you can decide what time works for you during the 24 hours. Dawn is also happy to sign you up. Sunrise is at 7:30 am and sunset is 5:08 pm. During the night (or any time after sunset) you are welcome to stay at home and pray for your shift. Having multiple people during the hour is fine as well, but ideally we’d like to cover each of the 24 hours first. The camera will be set up so anyone at home can zoom an image of the altar.

We all know the power of prayer and that “something ALWAYS happens when we pray.” I hope everyone will be enthusiastic about participating. The Book of Common Prayer has many wonderful prayers and Collects and is a great inspiration and resource right in the pews.

Looking forward to discover what our Lord has in store for us!
